I picked this quote because I am most certain that everyone has felt this from time to time. But what does it mean? To me, I interpret it to be inspirational during times when it feels like the odds are against you or at least, working in the other direction. Along with the good, there is the bad in which we inevitably encounter during our journey of life. The question is, how do we deal with it when it comes? How do we overpower the “opposition” of the bad? It is a constant self-battle. In my mind, at least. I was recently made aware of the fact that I am in “self-evaluation” mode all the time, which can be annoying to others. This is the second time I have been informed of this issue and to be honest, I don’t know how to shut it off. I am sure there is a list of remedies that could possibly cure the problem, but I think it comes from within in the end. It is said that once you are aware of the problem, it is the first step to “perfection”, but I don’t want to be perfect. I just want to stop thinking so damn much and have fun. I’m not sure if these thoughts stem from being in “Master Thesis” mode, but it is my thought of the day….now, I need to stop thinking!

While out and about on a 12 km walk the other day with a Dutch friend, we decided to have a bit of fun with the camera and VOILA! This is what you get…hahahahahaa

Seriously, I can’t stop laughing!!!

Obviously, I did not take this image or the one below, so major props for my Dutch friend on capturing an image of me that everyone can enjoy!

Freezing

OMG!!!! Imagine waking up to -20 Celsius after sleeping in a cozy, down-filled blanket (actually 2)….your warm toes touching the frozen floor only to send a sharp feeling through your entire body. Immediately, sweatpants and sweatshirts were put on along with a nice pair of woolly socks that a great German friend gave me as a Christmas gift this year. The next step was to fill the ceramic, Swedish- made chimney full of wood and start a fire that fills the whole house with warmth. It is literally freezing at the moment….so much so that while on a 12 km walk with a great Dutch friend the other day, we were able to capture my hair freezing. I guess this is what I will look like when I am 60 years old! haha

This is a view from the top floor window at my current residence. I enjoyed and embraced all things at Ekhagen, but if there is one thing I have learned, you gotta go before the going gets tough and the tough gets going! haha

But really, it was fun, but time for the next chapter of fun.

Ekhagen was so fun that I met a tremendous amount of international people who have now become part of my international social network. Just this weekend, my Ekhagen neighbor dropped by for the weekend where we sipped wine, chatted, laughed and the list goes on and on…it was fun. Soon, another good friend will stop by and again, the list goes on and on and on…

I took this image just an hour ago and as many of you know, the sun doesn’t stay out for long during the swedish winters so I am off for a 2 hour walk, which is one my weekend friend and I discovered. Taking the camera with me to see if I can photograph anything good. Ciao for now!

And we can’t forget about Jack! He is super happy over his new friend, baby Alex but I think he may be a little attention-starved now that the baby has come. No worries though because I will be mid-wifing it up this week and will get an inside look into being a “newborn” parent. I am hoping to document it so stay tuned. It should be interesting!

Hostess

I love playing “Hostess”, especially when I rock the “Hostess-with-the-Mostess” title! As you know, I am currently working towards my Masters in Logistics and Supply Chain Management at Jönköping International Business School. I took on a volunteer job as rep for my student accomodation in order to meet people and add juicy job descriptions to my resume. It has not been an easy task to juggle along with studying, but it has been well worth it, especially when I get to party plan. Recently, another rep and I planned a “farewell/christmas party” for those students who were here on exchange as well as for those who are staying through the upcoming spring term. As you can see below, it was a party well planned and enjoyed by many.

If I could get a job connecting Logistics and Party Planning, I would be one happy cookie! I enjoyed the party and people so much therefore, here is another picture showing you my enthusiasm for a job well done. Enjoy!
